Fatal Motorcycle Accident In Peoria, Illinois

A fatal motorcycle accident occurred early Friday, August 10, in Peoria, Illinois.

The motorcyclist, Marcus A. Shipman, 25, of Peoria Heights, was reportedly traveling at a high speed when he lost control of the bike and was ejected.  The accident happened shortly after 3 a.m. on East War Memorial Drive and North Grand Blvd.

An excerpt from the August 10, 2012 PJStar.com article titled “Motorcyclist dies in crash early Friday” :

The motorcycle skidded an estimated 130 yards and crashed into a garage, according to Peoria special operations Lt. Steve Roegge. Shipman’s body was found about 60 yards from the crashed vehicle.

A passer-by found the downed motorcyclist and called for authorities at 3:11 a.m., according to dispatch records. Shipman was taken by ambulance to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

Shipman was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.  An autopsy found he died from head injuries.
