A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday in Darien, Illinois after colliding with an SUV.
Initial police reports released Tuesday indicate that William Pott, 51, of Woodridge, collided with an SUV around 4:30 p.m. at Plainfield and Lemont Roads, near a Speedway gas station.
Pott was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. He was pronounced dead at 5:15 p.m., according to the DuPage County Coroner’s Office said.
The preliminary coroner’s report says that Pott died of multiple traumatic injuries to his head and chest. Pott was said to be wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
According to Darien Deputy Police Chief John Cooper, determining the cause of the fatal motorcycle accident could take up to two weeks. An accident reconstruction team is at work on the determination.
The driver of the SUV, also from Woodridge, was not injured in the crash.
As of Wednesday afternoon, no one had been cited in connection with the accident, police said.
