Fatal Motorcycle Accident In Chicago’s Belmont Cragin Neighborhood

There was a fatal motorcycle accident on Chicago’s Northwest Side last night.

The motorcyclist has been identified as Stanislaw Galek, 42, of Stone Park.

The accident happened as Galek was riding east along West Diversey Avenue in Chicago’s Belmont Cragin neighborhood.  According to Chicago Police, at approximately 8:40 p.m., his motorcycle was hit (sideswiped) by an SUV that was pulling out of a parking lot.

Galek was thrown from the motorcycle, and was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.  He was subsequently pronounced dead.

The SUV’s driver has been identified as Maria Mora, 28, of Chicago.  According to Chicago Police, she was cited for failing to stop or yield as well as driving without a driver’s license.

The accident remains under investigation.
