There was a fatal Illinois motorcycle accident Saturday evening (April 15, 2017) in Batavia.
According to information provided by the Batavia Police Department, police officers went to the accident scene at approximately 5:25 p.m. The crash happened in the 1200 block of Wind Energy Pass, and involved a motorcycle with a passenger and another vehicle.
Later information alleges that the motorcyclist had been attempting to elude police after an attempted traffic stop. The rider of the motorcycle (later identified as Joseph G. Graves, 31, of Batavia) was pronounced dead at the accident scene. The passenger, identified only as female, was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove for treatment of her accident injuries. She was listed in critical condition.
The accident investigation is being conducted by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and the the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.
