There was a fatal loss of control motorcycle crash Saturday (July 21, 2018) night in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood. As seen in many crashes in 2018 – including those that caused fatalities – loss of motorcycle control continues to be a very common cause of serious crashes this year.
This crash happened on a Kennedy Expressway exit ramp in Logan Square.
An excerpt regarding the crash, from the July 23, 2018 Chicago Sun-Times article titled “Motorcyclist killed in crash on Kennedy ramp in Logan Square“:
Donald L. Hay, 50, was driving a black 1991 Harley-Davidson motorcycle at 9:35 p.m. on the ramp from southbound I-90 to California Avenue when he lost control and was thrown from the bike, according to Illinois State Police. He was then hit and dragged by a 2006 Chevrolet SUV on the ramp.
Hay, who lived in Logan Square, was declared dead after being taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center. A subsequent autopsy determined that he died of multiple injuries from the accident.
The driver and passenger in the SUV were not hurt in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
