A fatal Gurnee motorcycle collision occurred Saturday (July 27) evening. This Gurnee motorcycle collision involved a SUV and motorcycle. The motorcyclist died from his accident injuries.
Like many fatal Illinois motorcycle accidents, this accident appears to have involved a vehicle making a left-hand turn in the path of an oncoming motorcycle.
An excerpt from the August 3, 2019 Chicago Sun-Times article titled “Man killed in Gurnee motorcycle crash“:
Jaskaran Singh, who lived in Gurnee, was riding his motorcycle westbound on Grand Avenue about 6:40 p.m. when an eastbound SUV tried to make a left turn onto Lawson Boulevard and hit him, Gurnee police and the Lake County coroner’s office said. He was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
Singh was 23 years old.
A subsequent autopsy indicated that he died from blunt force injuries suffered during the collision.
Additional details and possible updates concerning this fatal Gurnee motorcycle collision can be seen in a variety of media sources, including the article mentioned above as well as the July 31 Lake & McHenry County Scanner article titled “23-year-old motorcyclist killed in crash with SUV in Gurnee.”
As seen in many fatal Illinois motorcycle accidents that have been summarized on this site, many have involved a vehicle turning left in front of an oncoming motorcycle, causing a collision. While there can be many reasons why these types of collisions occur, one of the primary reasons is that the motorist “fails to see” the oncoming motorcycle.
The collisions that can occur when a vehicle turns immediately in front of the oncoming bike often causes serious, and possibly life-threatening injuries. Often, the motorcyclist involved in these accidents passes away at the accident scene, or shortly after the accident.
For those accidents in which motorist negligence caused the death of the motorcycle rider, relevant parties may (depending upon the circumstances surrounding the accident) be able to successfully file a wrongful death lawsuit. Wrongful death lawsuits are further discussed on the “Motorcycle Accident Wrongful Death Lawsuits” page.
