Fatal Grundy County Minivan-Motorcycle Collision

There was a fatal motorcycle-minivan collision Sunday afternoon (November 13, 2016) in Grundy County.

According to the Grundy County Coroner’s Office, the accident happened at the intersection of Jugtown Road and Deerfield Road, shortly before 2:00 p.m.

An excerpt regarding the preliminary crash investigation findings, as seen in the November 14, 2016 Channahon Patch article titled “Motorcyclist Dies in Morris Crash with Minivan“:

Daniel Ruffatto driving a motorcycle northbound on Jugtown approaching the intersection of Deerfield when a van traveling southbound turned east to travel onto Deerfield when the collision occurred. The two collided in the intersection.

As a result of the collision, Ruffatto, 51, of Coal City, was thrown (i.e. was ejected) from the motorcycle.  He was pronounced dead at the accident scene.  At the time of the collision, he was not wearing a motorcycle helmet.

The crash remains under investigation.  Media sources do not appear to indicate what citations or other charges, if any, have been filed in relation to the crash.
