Fatal Edens Expressway Motorcycle Crash

There was a fatal motorcycle accident early Sunday morning (May 14, 2017) on the Edens Expressway.

This accident involved a motorcycle loss of control.

An excerpt regarding the crash, from the May 14, 2017 Chicago Sun-Times article titled “Motorcyclist killed in Edens Expressway crash,” which summarizes preliminary accident investigation findings by the Illinois State Police (ISP):

Hector Virella, 45, was driving a 1998 black Honda motorcycle “at a high rate of speed” at 3:10 a.m. north in the outbound lanes of the Interstate 94 near Wilson Avenue when he lost control, veered left onto the shoulder and struck the wall, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. No other vehicles were involved.

Virella, of Chicago, was pronounced dead after being taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
