A fatal Crystal Lake motorcycle accident occurred Tuesday (June 2, 2020) afternoon. This Crystal Lake motorcycle accident involved a collision between two SUVs and a motorcycle.
The accident scene was located at Route 31 south of Drake Drive. First responders, including the Crystal Lake fire and police departments, began to go the accident scene at 4:38 p.m.

Crystal Lake Deputy Police Chief Thomas Kotlowski said that an investigation showed that a black Ford SUV was traveling northbound on Route 31 when it collided with a silver Jeep SUV that was also traveling northbound.
The Jeep crossed into the southbound lane of traffic where it crashed into a motorcycle, driven by an adult male.
The Ford SUV was driven by Robert A. Roth, 69, of Crystal Lake. He was found to be driving with a blood alcohol content level of more than 0.08, which is over the legal limit, Kotlowski said.
Roth was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol causing death and two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol.
The motorcyclist was declared dead after being taken to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry.
The accident remains under investigation by the Crystal Lake Accident Investigation Team and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office. Those who witnessed the accident or otherwise have information concerning the accident are asked to contact the Crystal Lake Police Department at 815-356-3620.
