While Illinois does not have a motorcycle helmet law, there are many safety benefits of wearing a motorcycle helmet. These benefits are discussed on the “Illinois Motorcyclist Safety And Helmet Use” page.
Among the benefits of wearing a helmet is that it substantially reduces the possibility of a serious traumatic brain injury (TBI). Brain injuries that occur during motorcycle accidents can be among the most serious accident injuries. Certain head injuries can lead to a fatality, either at the accident scene or some time later.
