At approximately 5:12 p.m. Monday, the Aurora Police Department’s 911 center received reports of a head-on crash involving a motorcycle in the 700 block of Liberty Street.
According to an APD news release, Aurora police officers and the Aurora Fire Department arrived on scene and began to render aid to the injured motorcycle rider.
Officers determined the motorcycle, a 2000 Suzuki, was traveling west on Liberty Street at a high rate of speed when it collided head-on with a 1996 Chevy Tahoe which was traveling east.
Aurora Fire Department medics attempted to perform lifesaving measures and transported the motorcycle driver to Rush Copley Medical Center.
The driver of the motorcycle, a 20-year-old Aurora man, did not survive and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The accident remains under investigation. Those with information concerning the crash are asked to contact the Aurora Police Department’s Traffic Division at 630-256-5330 or call Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000, which can be used to report information anonymously.
