There was an Illinois motorcycle accident late Sunday (June 3, 2018) afternoon in Cumberland County involving a motorcyclist who was attempting to pass another vehicle.

A purple 1998 Harley-Davidson driven by Roger East, 58, of Charleston, and a silver 2004 Dodge, driven by Courtney Davis, 18, of Greenup, were westbound on U.S. Route 40, east of Cumberland County road 2100E. The motorcycle was traveling behind Davis and attempted to pass the car in the left lane while Davis was turning left onto county road 2100E. East struck Davis’ vehicle in the driver side door. The accident occurred at 3:04 p.m.
The collision caused East to be ejected from the motorcycle. He was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana for treatment of his accident injuries.
The Illinois State Police said that East was charged with improper overtaking on left and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
