The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District and Algonquin Police Department responded around 1:30 p.m. Sunday to Algonquin Road and Harrison Street for a report of a vehicle crash.

Algonquin Deputy Police Chief Ryan Markham said a 2005 Honda motorcycle, driven by Jeffrey Stadie, 67, of Algonquin, was traveling eastbound on Algonquin Road.

The motorcycle attempted to make a left-hand turn onto northbound Harrison Street when he struck a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer, which was traveling westbound on Algonquin Road.

According to Stefine Loewe, who witnessed the crash, Stadie was thrown from the motorcycle but remained conscious.

“I had 911 on the phone within seconds and we kept the man still and conscious. His heel was ripped off his foot from heel to mid foot. And bleeding from his ear and mouth. He was thankfully responsive. And thankfully had a helmet on,” Loewe said in a Facebook post.

Stadie was taken to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley for medical treatment of his injuries. He was later flown to a hospital in Rockford. His injuries are considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

According to the article, Stadie was charged with with failure to yield while turning left.
