Additional Details Concerning The July 2011 Fatal Motorcycle Accident In Wauconda, Illinois

The September 11, 2012 Lake County News Sun article, titled “Round Lake Beach drunk driver gets 18 years for fatal crash” discusses various aspects of the accident as well as the sentence given to the Round Lake Beach man, Vincente Torres-Vasquez, 49, of Round Lake Beach, who was driving the SUV that struck Homola.

One excerpt from the article:

At the time of the fatal crash, Torres-Vasquez had a blood-alcohol content of .288, above the legal limit of .08, Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Patricia Fix said at his sentencing hearing Tuesday.

This was also Torres-Vasquez’s fourth DUI. His vehicle was full of empty and partially full liquor containers as he pulled into oncoming traffic, according to testimony at the hearing.

He could have spent up to 26 years in prison. Circuit Judge Daniel Shanes sentenced Torres-Vasquez to 18 years in prison.
