According to information provided by the Illinois State Police (ISP) and the Kankakee County Coroner, the accident occurred on U.S. Route 45/52 at 10000N Road at approximately 9:00 p.m.
The motorcyclist, identified as Kristopher M. Cortese, 30, of Wilmington, was declared dead at the accident scene at 9:20 p.m.
An excerpt from the Daily Journal article of March 19, 2019 titled “Motorcyclist dies in crash near Manteno,” quoting Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner:
According to Gessner, Cortese was traveling southbound on Route 45/52 at approximately 9 p.m. He crossed over into the northbound lane and crashed into a northbound vehicle.
A second northbound vehicle then struck Cortese, who was lying in the road.
According to Gessner, at the time of this Manteno motorcycle crash Cortese was not wearing a motorcycle helmet. He died from massive injuries.
The accident investigation is being conducted by the Illinois State Police.
