Motorcyclist Killed In Schaumburg Illinois

On Tuesday afternoon, June 28, a motorcyclist collided with a semi truck in Schaumburg, Illinois.  The 29-year-old motorcyclist was killed, police said today.

According to The Chicago Tribune, the crash occurred at 4:21 p.m. at Irving Park Road and Mitchell Boulevard. The 18-wheeler was going east on Irving Park Road and began making a left turn onto northbound Mitchell Boulevard, according to preliminary information.  The motorcycle, traveling west on Irving Park, struck the semi in the intersection, police said.

The motorcyclist has been identified as Richard Mitchell, of Glen Ellyn.  He was taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center (Elk Grove Village) where he later died, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Gurnee, Illinois Fatal Motorcycle Accident

A Sunday evening (June 19) motorcycle crash has killed a Gurnee citizen and Public Works employee, according to a story.

Gurnee Police Cmdr. Jay Patrick has said that Todd Jefson, 56, of Gurnee, died at the accident scene after his motorcycle apparently crossed the center line of Tri-State Parkway near Washington Street and struck a curb.

Officers found Jefson, the rider of the motorcycle, lying in the grass on the east side of Tri-State Parkway. There were no signs of life.

Patrick said Jefson had sustained what appeared to be a serious head injury.  Jefson was not wearing a helmet, according to officials.
