Charges have been brought regarding a fatal motorcycle accident that happened Wednesday, May 23, on Chicago’s West Side.
The accident happened at approximately 7:24 p.m.
The accident, in the North Lawndale neighborhood, happened when Joe Sneed, driving an SUV, allegedly struck a motorcyclist on the 3700 block of West 16th Street.
Sneed, 43, of Chicago, was charged, according to police, with one count of aggravated DUI; an improper U-turn; not having a driver’s license; no insurance; driving under the influence of alcohol; and aggravated DUI resulting in bodily harm. Sneed was ordered held on $500,000 bail.
Buvern Francisco, 33, of Chicago, the motorcyclist, was pronounced dead at 8:03 p.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
There was also a woman passenger on the motorcycle. The woman is said to be 27-years-old, from Hammond, Indiana. She is 10 weeks pregnant, and suffered a spleen injury and a broken pelvis. She was taken to Stroger Hospital where, as of Saturday, she was said to be in serious condition.
