A motorcyclist was killed Sunday, July 31 in Peoria, Illinois.
The man killed was identified as Gerald Gimbel, 63, of Sparland. He was pronounced dead at 6:30 p.m. at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
According to an August 1 PJStar.com story titled “East Peoria man ticketed for fatal crash Sunday” :
Nathan Palmer, 32, of 501 Illini Drive was given tickets for reckless driving, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane usage after the crash at 3:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of War Memorial Drive.
He was westbound when he crossed into a lane of oncoming traffic and struck a motorcycle driven by Gerald Gimbel, 63, of 107 Sioux Drive in Sparland.
According to Peoria Country Coroner Johnna Ingersoll, an autopsy done Monday showed Gimbel died of multiple injuries to the head, spine and chest. He was wearing a helmet.
