Motorcyclist Killed In Illinois When He Hits Deer

A motorcyclist was killed Friday near Fandon, Illinois when his motorcycle struck a deer.

Jeffrey Herrick, 49, of Colchester was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which happened at East 775th Street south of Fandon.  Although rescue crews were called at 6:35 a.m., the accident may have occurred earlier.

McDonough County Sheriff Rick VanBrooker said the motorcycle was northbound when it struck the deer.

Herrick was not wearing a helmet, said McDonough County Coroner Eric Jameson.
