Early in the morning of Monday (August 14, 2017) there was a motorcycle crash in which a motorcyclist was seriously injured after he swerved to avoid a deer that was standing on the roadway. According to the Illinois State Police (ISP) the accident occurred on U.S. 50 two miles west of Flora. The accident happened as the motorcycle was traveling westbound at 3:48 a.m.
The rider was identified as Jesse J. Henry, 50, of Olney. He was ejected during the crash and taken to Clay County Hospital for treatment of his accident injuries. He was then flown to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
