According to the Elgin Police Department, the crash only involved the motorcycle, and happened as a motorcyclist (on a Harley-Davidson) traveling southbound on Center Street lost control of the bike, struck a curb, and then struck a utility pole.
The motorcyclist, initially identified only as a 45-year-old male, was taken to Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin, where he was pronounced dead.
The accident is being investigated by the Elgin Police Department Traffic Unit.
