There was a motorcycle accident Monday (August 18, 2014) on Interstate 80 (I-80) close to the I-39 interchange near La Salle, Illinois.
The initial accident involved the driver of a car who collided with the front of a semi truck as she attempted to merge onto I-80 eastbound from northbound I-39.
The car then crossed the median and entered the westbound I-80 lanes. A motorcyclist – with a rider and passenger – which was on westbound I-80 then hit the expressway guardrail while attempting to avoid colliding with the car.
Both riders on the motorcycle were taken to an area hospital. Their identities have not yet been disclosed.
The driver of the car, identified as Kayla L. Guenther, 19, Ottawa, was was also taken to an area hospital.
