There was a fatal motorcycle crash Tuesday night (August 8, 2017) in Sangamon County.
According to sheriff’s deputies, the crash occurred near the intersection of County Highway 1 (Sherman Road) and Farrand Road just after 8:30 p.m. At that time, according to a preliminary crash investigation, the motorcycle was westbound on County Highway 1 when a truck turning left near Farrand Road struck the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was identified by the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office as Ryan Fager, 21, of Sherman. He was pronounced dead after being taken to HSHS St. John’s Hospital.

The driver of the truck was ticketed for an improper left turn.
According to deputies, the headlight on the motorcycle was not working at the time of the crash and this may have led to or contributed to the motorcycle accident.
The accident investigation continues.
