There was a fatal motorcycle accident Wednesday (August 30, 2017) in Springfield, Illinois.
The motorcycle accident happened at the intersection of 11th Street and Stanford Street shortly after 5:00 p.m.

Police tell WAND-TV a pickup truck driver was trying to turn left onto Stanford when the motorcycle approached in a northbound direction on 11th. That’s when the motorcycle lost control as it crossed railroad tracks, then hit the truck after moving on its side.
The motorcyclist, identified as Demarcus Long, 37, of Springfield, died at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. Among his injuries was a serious head injury.

As of Thursday, Springfield police had not determined who was at fault, and the accident remained under investigation.
