There was a fatal motorcycle accident early Monday morning (August 7, 2017) in Geneva.
According to information provided by the City of Geneva (in an August 7, 2017 media release titled “Batavia Man Dies In Motorcycle Accident“) the crash happened at 12:05 a.m. as the rider was traveling eastbound on State Street. At that time the 2015 Harley-Davidson Softail Standard motorcycle left the roadway, struck a light pole and hit two trees in the 1300 block of West State Street. At the time of the crash the motorcyclist was not wearing a motorcycle helmet.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the accident scene. He was identified as John Akin, 45, of Batavia.
The crash investigation is being conducted by the Geneva Police Department.
