There was a fatal motorcycle accident Saturday (August 13, 2016) afternoon in Springfield, Illinois.
According to Springfield Police, the accident happened at 4:59 p.m. at the intersection of Fielding Drive and Meadowbrook Road.
An excerpt from the August 16, 2016 The State Journal-Register article titled “Victim of fatal motorcycle accident identified as Tennessee man“:
Springfield police said the motorcycle was reported to be traveling at a high rate of speed when it failed to stop and struck the passenger side of the southbound van, which had stopped at the intersection and was proceeding through it.
The motorcyclist was identified by the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office as Clyde Whestone, 38, of Antioch, Tennessee. He was taken to Memorial Medical Center for treatment of his accident injuries, and was declared dead later in the evening.
The cause of death has been determined as multiple blunt force trauma injuries sustained during the crash.
The two people in the van were also taken to Memorial Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
