According to WOIO of Ashland, Ohio, in a July 24 story titled “Fatal motorcycle accident on I-71” there was a fatal motorcycle accident on Sunday, July 24 in Ashland. It happened just after five a.m. Sunday on I-71 at US 250 in Montgomery Township.
Details of the accident appear brief, at least at this point. According to the story:
The operator of a 2008 Honda Silver Wing motorcycle was traveling southbound, when he lost control. The motorcycle and driver slid off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail.
The 47-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, his name is not yet being released.
Troopers say the victim was not wearing a helmet.
According to the 2010 Operational Report of the Ohio State Highway Patrol (pdf), as seen on page 9:
In 2010, there were 172 motorcycle‐involved fatal traffic crashes that killed 178 people in Ohio. This includes 109 rural (63%) and 63 urban (37%) fatal crashes.
