Fatal I-80 Motorcycle Crash After Loss Of Control

There was a fatal motorcycle accident Saturday afternoon (September 2, 2017) on Interstate 80 (I-80) in Troy Township.  This accident appears to have involved a motorcycle loss of control.

According to information provided by the Will County Coroner’s Office, the accident happened on I-80, as the motorcyclist was riding a Harley-Davidson eastbound, east of I-55.  When the motorcycle was near mile marker 126, for an unknown reason the motorcyclist lost control of the bike.

The motorcyclist, identified as Kevin Smith, 51, of Chenoa, was ejected as the motorcycle hit the center median wall.  He was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet for treatment of his accident injuries.  He was pronounced dead.

This fatal Illinois motorcycle accident remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
