There was a fatal motorcycle accident Thursday afternoon (April 14, 2016) on I-55 near Bolingbrook.
According to the Illinois State Police (ISP) the accident happened at approximately 1:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes, just south of Route 53.
At that time, for reasons currently unknown, a motorcycle crashed into the rear of (i.e. “rear-ended”) a SUV.
The motorcyclist was identified as Brian Readus, 45, of Naperville. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his accident injuries, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver and a passenger in the SUV were not hurt during the accident.
The crash investigation, conducted by the Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit, is ongoing.
