Motorcycle Accident Fatality In Peoria

There was a fatal motorcycle accident Sunday (April 27, 2014) in Peoria.

The accident happened at approximately 12:45 a.m., as a motorcyclist was riding northbound on North Knoxville Avenue when a car traveling southbound allegedly crossed the center line and collided with the motorcycle in the 1800 block of North Knoxville Avenue.

The driver of the motorcycle, identified as Daniel D. Cantrall, 57, of Peoria, was pronounced dead at 2:10 a.m. at the accident scene, according to Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll.

The motorcycle passenger was identified as Jennifer Schmitt, 56, of Peoria.  She was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

The driver of the car fled the accident scene, but was later apprehended.

Marlon A. Coleman, 39, of 132 Village Green Court was taken into custody within minutes of the crash near the intersection of Missouri and Ravine avenues. He was booked into the Peoria County Jail on charges of aggravated driving under the influence, being an unlicensed driver and several other traffic citations.

Motorcycle Collision In Unincorporated Richmond Township

There was a motorcycle accident Saturday (April 19, 2014) in unincorporated Richmond Township.

According to preliminary reports, this motorcycle accident happened when a motorcycle collided with a semi truck shortly after 5:00 p.m.  on Route 12.  According to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the motorcyclist was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane, and the semi tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound.  The collision happened in the 3900 block of Route 12.

The motorcyclist, identified only as a man from Wisconsin, was ejected from the motorcyclist.  He was flown by helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.  According to at least one media source, the injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.

The truck driver was treated at the accident scene.

The driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Excessive speed by the motorcycle was believed to be a factor in the crash.

Fatal Motorcycle Accident In Kane County, Illinois

There was a fatal motorcycle accident Saturday afternoon (April 19, 2014) in Kane County, Illinois.

According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, this motorcycle accident happened at approximately 3:10 p.m., when a motorcyclist, riding a 2007 Harley, traveling eastbound on Route 20 west of Switzer Road, went off the roadway and struck a guardrail.  It is unknown at this time as to why the motorcycle left the roadway.

The motorcyclist, identified as Sharon Schultz, 54, of Geneva, was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, where she was pronounced dead.

Motorcycle Accident Fatality In Southern Illinois

There was a fatal motorcycle accident on Thursday, April 10, in Clark County, Illinois.

The driver of the motorcycle died from injuries sustained after being taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.  He was identified as Jackie ‘Jack’ L. Miller, 73, of Linton, Indiana.

An excerpt regarding this Southern Illinois motorcycle accident, from the April 13, 2014 The News-Gazette article titled “Indiana man dies following motorcycle crash” :

According to a Clark County sheriff’s report, Mr. Miller and a second motorcycle rider crashed in the area of 420th Street just north of 2000th Road in rural Clark County (west of Terre Haute) at 11:15 a.m. Thursday.

The other motorcyclist was identified as Miller’s wife, Wanda.  She was also airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, and has since been released from the hospital.

The cause of this motorcycle accident is unknown.  The accident remains under investigation by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office.
